The 2009 NCBDS is hosted by the College of Art and Design at Louisiana State University. The college is emblematic of the diverse community that engages in beginning design education, containing the Schools of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Fine Arts and the Department of Interior Design.

The conference will be held downtown Baton Rouge at the Shaw Center of the Arts, a 2008 AIA National Honor Award Winner designed by Schwartz/Silver Architects. The Shaw Center houses the LSU Art Museum and the LSU School of Art's Downtown Gallery and Classrooms, as well as other art institutions and a rooftop sushi restaurant overlooking the Mississippi River. The conference hotel is the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center. A block of rooms is reserved until February 10, 2009, at a rate of $129.00 per night. Please reference the NCBDS for this room rate. The Hilton is located across the street from the Shaw Center and offers shuttle service to and from the Baton Rouge Airport. Additional accommodations are available at the Sheraton Baton Rouge Convention Center Hotel. The Sheraton is located four blocks from the Shaw Center and offers shuttle service to and from the Baton Rouge Airport.

The Baton Rouge International Airport (BTR) is 10 minutes away from the conference hotel and venue. The New Orleans International Airport (MSY) is 75 minutes away.
